Descrição:N-Phthaloyl-Phe-OH is a chiral drug that is an immunosuppressant. The pharmacokinetics of mycophenolic acid, the active form of this drug, was studied in rats and its metabolites were identified. This compound was first synthesized by hydrolysis of vinyl alcohol with HCl, followed by reaction with phthalic anhydride and pheyl chloride. N-Phthaloyl-Phe-OH has been shown to suppress the immune system by inhibiting T cell proliferation and suppressing production of proinflammatory cytokines.
