Descrição

Polyphyllin II is a natural compound that belongs to the class of phyllocoumarins. It has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and signal pathways, which are involved in transcriptional regulation and matrix effect. Polyphyllin II also inhibits target enzymes, such as oxidative injury-related enzymes. These activities have been demonstrated in experimental models with fetal bovine erythrocytes and human monocytes. Polyphyllin II has been found to be an inhibitor of P-gp substrate and can cause apoptosis pathway activation in some cancer cells. This drug may be a potential anticancer agent.
