Phenyltrifluorosilane is a fluorinated hydrocarbon that can be used as a coating material. The fate of covid-19 pandemic influenza virus was investigated using phenyltrifluorosilane as a coating, which showed increased resistance to cleavage products and reduced reactivity with water. Phenyltrifluorosilane is also used as a building block in supramolecular chemistry and can form complexes with nitrogen atoms and aromatic hydrocarbons.
