Potassium trifluoro(1-hexyn-1-yl)borate(1-) is an ionic liquid that is a solvent for organic reactions. It can be used to synthesize amines and benzoic acid derivatives in situ. Potassium trifluoro(1-hexyn-1-yl)borate(1-) reacts with benzoic acid, forming the corresponding potassium salt of benzoic acid. This reaction is carried out by mixing potassium trifluoro(1-hexyn-1-yl)borate(1-) and benzoic acid in the same solvent system such as water or chloroform.
