Ruthenium is a transition metal with a chemical symbol of Ru. It is a catalyst used in the production of acrylic acid and other chemicals. Ruthenium 5% on Carbon (wetted with ca. 50% water) has been used as an alternative to platinum for hydrogenation reactions and as a catalyst for organic synthesis. Ruthenium 5% on Carbon (wetted with ca. 50% water) is also chemically stable, which makes it suitable for use in wastewater treatment plants because it does not react with water vapor or nitrogen atoms.
