Resveratrol is a polyphenol that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Resveratrol has been studied for its antioxidant activity and investigated for its ability to protect cells from oxidative damage. Resveratrol also has high bioavailability and can be quantitated in plasma, urine, and tissues after oral administration. The aglycone form of resveratrol is inactive, but it can be conjugated with glucuronic acid or sulfate to increase its lipophilicity and bioavailability.
