Descrição

Sodium persulfate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula Na2S2O8. It is a white solid that dissolves in water and has a high solubility in most organic solvents. Sodium persulfate is used for surface methodology, such as cell fixation and tissue embedding. The toxicity of sodium persulfate has been studied extensively, and it has been shown to be relatively non-toxic when ingested or inhaled. In addition, sodium persulfate can be used for wastewater treatment, such as removing phosphorus from sewage sludge. The reaction mechanism of this compound is still not well understood, but it may involve the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide to form hydroxyl radicals and superoxide radicals.
