Strontium carbonate has been used as a pigment for glass, ceramics, and enamel products. It also has been used in analytical chemistry to form hydroxyl groups. The hydroxyl group reacts with sodium citrate or sodium carbonate to produce a color change in the solution. The reaction solution is then heated to determine the phase transition temperature of the strontium carbonate.
