• Descrição: Salicylhydroxamic acid is a hydroxamic acid that inhibits the activity of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHBA) reductase, an enzyme involved in the conversion of PHBA to benzoic acid. The compound has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial functions, leading to cell death. Salicylhydroxamic acid has also been shown to be active against wild-type strains of Candida glabrata, but not against resistant mutants. This drug may have therapeutic potential for bone cancer and metabolic disorders such as obesity.
