• Descrição: 4,4-Dimethyl-1-[(3,4-methylenedioxy)phenyl]-1-penten-3-ol is a drug that has been used in the treatment of Dravet syndrome. This drug is also known as 3,4-methylenedioxyphenylacetone. It is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme citrate synthase and inhibits the conversion of acetate to citrate. The effect of 4,4-dimethyl-1-[(3,4-methylenedioxy)phenyl]-1-penten-3-ol on sodium citrate concentrations is concentration dependent and results in an increase in plasma sodium concentrations with prolonged administration. Other drugs that are metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system may interact with 4,4-dimethyl-1-[(3,4 methylenedioxy)phenyl]-1 penten 3 ol and lead to increased levels of these drugs in the blood.
