This ligand was also used for asymmetric synthesis of alkene and aldehyde derivatives using halides, diazo compounds, and salicylaldehyde as reactants.(S)-SIPHOS-PE is a chiral octaketide that can be prepared from salicylaldehyde and halides in the presence of diazo compounds. It is also possible to synthesize this compound from an alkene or an aldehyde in the presence of catalytic amounts of cyclic or aromatic hydrocarbons.
