Sodium 1-Octadecanesulfonate is a synthetic chemical that belongs to the group of aliphatic hydrocarbons. It has been used in Covid-19, a pandemic vaccine that was designed to prevent the H1N1 virus. This compound is not hazardous because it is only mildly soluble in water and does not have any known chronic toxicity. Sodium 1-Octadecanesulfonate has been used as an emulsifier and stabilizer for calcium stearate. It also is used as a viscosity modifier in polymeric matrices, such as sodium salts. The formation rate of this compound is 0.6 grams per kilogram of weight per hour at 20 degrees Celsius with water vapor present. This chemical can be found in fatty acid esters, which are used in thermally sensitive products such as candles and soaps.
