Sodium 1-pentadecanesulfonate is a substrate film that is used as an absorbent in industrial processes. It has been shown to be stable at high temperatures and can be used in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The polymer film is formed by reacting hydrochloric acid with polyvinyl chloride, which leaves behind a residue of sodium 1-pentadecanesulfonate. This film is also useful in the production of polycarboxylic and monocarboxylic acids because it can react with ester compounds to form esters. Sodium 1-pentadecanesulfonate reacts with metal chelates (e.g., calcium carbonate) to form metal complexes that are soluble in water, which makes it useful for deodorizing purposes.
