2,3,5-Tribromothiophene is a solvent that is used in the synthesis of Pd catalysts. It can also be used as an additive for the growth of plants. 2,3,5-Tribromothiophene has been shown to be a good catalyst for cross coupling reactions and can be used for the synthesis of methyl ketones. This chemical has been shown to react with a Grignard reagent to produce bithienyl. 2,3,5-Tribromothiophene has many uses including being recycled and as a transition metal.
