3-(Trifluoromethyl)benzoyl chloride is an organic compound that reacts with ammonium nitrate to produce diphenyl sulfoxide. This reaction is catalyzed by chloroformate and the product of this reaction is then hydrolyzed by hydrogen bond to yield 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid. The 3-chlorobenzoyl chloride can be converted into a variety of compounds through different reactions, such as conversion to chloroformates, xanthates, silver trifluoromethanesulfonate, or b-raf inhibitors.
