4-(1H-Tetrazol-1-yl)phenylacetic acid (PTZ) is a glucose-lowering drug that is structurally similar to an endogenous metabolite of glucose. It has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties in animals and humans, highlighting the importance of the metabolic pathways in determining its pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetic profiling has also been conducted with transgenic animals and it has been shown to have agonistic properties.
