1H-Tetrazole-1,5-diamine is a tetrazole derivative that can be used in organic synthesis. It has been shown to undergo metathesis reactions with different types of carbonyl compounds, including ketones, aldehydes, esters, and carboxylic acids. The reaction proceeds via an initial activation step involving hydrogen bonding between the nitrogen atom of the 1H-tetrazole and the oxygen atom of the carbonyl compound. This reaction can be accelerated by coordination complex formation with copper(II) chloride. 1H-Tetrazole-1,5-diamine is also able to form coordination complexes with other transition metals such as iron(III) chloride or nickel(II) chloride.
