1,2,4-Thiadiazol-5-amine is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects. It can block glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) and thereby inhibit neuronal death. This compound has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokines such as cytokine IL-1β and TNFα. 1,2,4-Thiadiazol-5-amine can also act as an extractant for camp levels in water samples. 1,2,4-Thiadiazol-5-amine is a heterocycle with two nitrogen atoms and one sulfur atom in its ring structure.
