[1,2,4]Triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid (TZP) is a heterocyclic compound that contains an adenosine group. It has a six-membered ring with two groups attached to the ring at positions 1 and 2. TZP is found in many different plants and fungi. TZP is a ligand for the A2 receptor, which mediates the vasodilator response in blood vessels by opening potassium channels. It also has amide substituents that are unsubstituted. This makes it a strong candidate for medicinal use as an antihypertensive drug because of its ability to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow to the heart. TZP also binds to the adenosine receptor and blocks catecholamine release from sympathetic nerves, which can be used as an antiinflammatory treatment if taken orally or injected into joints.
