1,2,3,4-Thiatriazol-5-amine is a nucleophilic compound that reacts with acetonitrile to form a salt. The reaction is catalyzed by the addition of an acid or base and can be classified as a stepwise mechanism because there are two steps in the reaction. In the first step, 1,2,3,4-thiatriazol-5-amine reacts with acetonitrile and forms an intermediate called 1-(chloromethyl)-1H-1,2,3,4-thiatriazole.
