1-Testosterone is a ferroelectric drug that can be used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of toxic epidermal necrolysis. It is also an animal experimental carcinogen, which can induce subcutaneous tumors in rats. 1-Testosterone is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and has shown to have potential as a biomarker for detection of exposure to certain pesticides. 1-Testosterone also functions as a metabolic indicator of nutritional status and may be useful in the diagnosis of endocrine disorders.
