Taurocholic acid sodium salt hydrate has been shown to induce necrotic cell death in vitro, which may be due to its ability to activate nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), leading to increased production of cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The bioavailability of taurocholic acid sodium salt hydrate has been shown to be greater than that of other bile acids in vivo.
