Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabivarinic acid (THCA) is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It is one of the many cannabinoids that are present in the plant. THCA does not have any psychoactive properties and therefore does not produce a "high" when consumed. The isolation of this compound can be done by using analytical methods such as gas chromatography or mass spectrometry. These methods can also be used to identify the presence of other cannabinoids, as well as their concentrations, within the sample. Analysis of THCA is important for determining if cannabis products are synthetic or natural as most synthetic samples do not contain THCA.
