Tetrazole blue is a tetrazole compound that is used as a reagent for the determination of certain metals in water and other polar solvents. It has been used as a building block in synthesis, and is also an intermediate for the production of other compounds. Tetrazole blue is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and ethanol. This compound can be stored at room temperature but should be kept away from air and moisture. Tetrazole blue has a CAS number of 7703-11-9.

Applications 5-Methyl Tetrazole is used in the preparation of novel antifungal agents based derived from N-iodopropargylazoles and N-triiodoallylazoles. 5-Methyl Tetrazole also in the preparation of novel quinoline derivatives against mycobacterium tuberculosis.
