(9E,12Z)-9,12-Tetradecadien-1-ol is a synthetic insect pheromone that is commercially available and used in the control of Ephestia species. The pheromone is an interpunctella, which is a short-term mating disruption control. This product has been shown to be effective in controlling these pests for up to 6 weeks. (9E,12Z)-9,12-Tetradecadien-1-ol is a homologue of the naturally occurring 9,12-tetradecadienal and has been found to have similar properties. When exposed to high doses of this product, male moths are unable to detect females due to interference with their antennae. This pheromone also disrupts the ability of female moths to receive signals from males at distances greater than 20 centimeters.
