Delta-tocopherol acetate is a pro-vitamin form of vitamin E, which is found naturally in many foods. It is a component of the antioxidant system in the body and is involved in the metabolism of cholesterol and regulation of cell growth. Delta-tocopherol acetate is synthetically derived from alpha-tocopherol, and has been shown to be more stable than natural forms of vitamin E. The synthetic form has also been shown to increase serum levels more than natural forms of vitamin E, with an incremental effect that may not be due to increased absorption.
