N-Tosylpyrrole is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative of pyrrole that has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, specifically Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. This compound is synthesized by the reaction of borohydride reduction with aluminium chloride as an acid catalyst in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid. N-Tosylpyrrole can be used to inhibit the production of halide ions by oxidizing chloride and carbonate ions, which are involved in the regulation of bacterial growth. The synthesis of this compound requires a reaction vessel, which is usually made from glass or quartz. Teleocidin is an indole alkaloid that can be obtained from N-Tosylpyrrole using arylation reactions. It has been shown to inhibit enzymes such as aminopeptidase, protease, and carboxypeptid
