5-Trifluoromethyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3(2H)thione is an alkenyl compound that has been the subject of extensive research for its use in industrial applications. It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of about -50°C and a boiling point of about 170°C. The compound was synthesized by reacting 5-trifluoromethyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazole with thiourea in the presence of potassium carbonate. The crystal structure was determined using x-ray diffraction analysis. The chemical formula is C6H5F3N5S.
