2,4,6-Trimethylbenzyl chloride is a molecule that belongs to the group of aryl chlorides. It undergoes a palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction with an organic halide in the presence of an activated zinc catalyst. This reaction can be carried out at room temperature and provides high yields when using 2,6-dimethylaniline as the organic halide. The stereoselective synthesis of this compound has been investigated by vibrational spectroscopy and structural studies. The asymmetric synthesis of this compound has been shown to be facilitated by its inhibitory properties against Gram-positive bacteria.
