2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde is a fatty acid that has biological functions such as being a substrate for the production of hydrogen fluoride. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde is also metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to produce metabolites that can cause metabolic disorders. This compound is also used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, and effective doses range from 0.1-10 mg/kg. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde has shown an inhibitory effect on serine proteases, which are involved in blood coagulation, and it also inhibits cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP). 2-(Trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde may be used as a target for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy and high cholesterol levels.
