Descrição:Triphenylene is a class of organic compounds with the chemical formula C12H10. This compound has a phenyl group attached to one end of a triphenylene and is synthesized by the reaction between sodium carbonate, triphenylene, and hydrogen. The x-ray crystal structures of these compounds show that the phenyl groups are arranged in an alternating fashion around the triphenylene backbone. The hydroxyl group on the phenyl rings can be used as a chiral center when synthesizing this compound. Triphenylene is also characterized by its light emission properties, which can be used for photochemical studies.
