2-(2-thienyl)ethenyl methyl ketone is a monoxide compound that can be synthesized from 2-methylcyclohexanone by oxidation. It has been shown to have an antispasmodic effect in rats and is a natural product of the reaction of β-unsaturated ketones with nitrous acid. The proton nmr spectrum for this compound shows a shift at δ6.4 ppm. The chemical structure of this compound contains a carbonyl oxygen atom, which has an α,β-unsaturated ketone skeleton.
