4-(Trifluoromethyl)benzene-1-thiol is an organic compound that is used as a model system for studying the reaction of a diazonium salt with an alkyl halide. It has been shown to be effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and dodecanethiol. 4-(Trifluoromethyl)benzene-1-thiol reacts with hydrochloric acid to form an oxime derivative, which then undergoes nucleophilic substitution by water. The resulting product is a monolayer film that can be used in biomedicine and nanotechnology for drug delivery and biosensing applications.
