Thiodicarb is a p-glycoprotein inhibitor that is used to study the effects of fatty acids on enzyme activities. Thiodicarb has been shown to inhibit the sodium-dependent glucose transporter (SGLT) and aryl halide hydrolase in vitro, as well as insect resistance. The compound inhibits the rate constant for liver cells and ryanodine receptor activity. In vivo, thiodicarb has been shown to be effective against resistant microorganisms such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Chromatographic analysis of thiodicarb has revealed that it binds to the cytoplasmic domain of the ryanodine receptor.
