This binding inhibits enzyme activity and prevents the transcription of DNA into RNA. The drug also inhibits infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis, by inhibiting bacterial growth. 2-(Thiocyanatomethylthio)benzothiazole has been shown to have sublethal doses in mice and shows no observable effects on body mass index or wastewater treatment. It is a synthetic organic compound that can be used for the treatment of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
