4-(p-Tolyloxy)phenyl methanamine is a phenolic compound and an alkali metal salt that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It has been shown to react with benzylamine in the presence of sodium carbonate to produce benzyl amine. The reaction time and catalytic reduction conditions have been optimized for this process.
The compound has been shown to be a precursor for the synthesis of esters, which are often used as pharmaceuticals.
