2-p-Tolyloxymethyl-oxirane is a reactive organic compound with the chemical formula C6H5CH2OCH3. It is a colorless liquid that reacts with water and air to form hydrogen chloride and formaldehyde. 2-p-Tolyloxymethyl-oxirane has been shown to cause allergic reactions in humans and animals, as well as irritation of the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. 2-p-Tolyloxymethyl-oxirane can also react with calcium stearate to generate epoxy compounds. This reaction mechanism is used in the production of boron nitride.
