Descrição:
5-(2-Thiophenyl)-3-isoxazolemethanol (5TI) is a nephritic agent that belongs to the class of thioureas. It is used in screening tests for renal disease, such as the sedimentation rate and melitensis test. 5TI has been shown to have a number of cellular functions, including interaction with cellular DNA and protein synthesis. Optimisation of this compound may lead to an increase in its efficacy. The mechanism of action of 5TI is not fully known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit elongase fatty acid synthase or other enzymes involved in lipid metabolism.
