2,3,3,5-tetramethyl-3H-indole is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHClN. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. 2,3,3,5-Tetramethyl-3H-indole can be synthesized by reacting perchloric acid with amides or perchlorates and hydrochlorides or crotonic anhydride with methacrylic acid. This chemical has been used in syntheses of other compounds such as erythromycin A and erythromycin B.
