Informação sobre produto
Meso-Tetraphenylchlorin is a light-activated chemical that can be used as a photodynamic therapy agent. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for cancer, specifically breast cancer and melanoma. Meso-Tetraphenylchlorin is taken up by the cancer cells and then converted to chlorin e6 (a photosensitizer) in the presence of light. The chlorin e6 reacts with oxygen, forming singlet oxygen and superoxide radicals, which have cytotoxic effects on the cancer cells.
Meso-Tetraphenylchlorin is also an ATP binder that inhibits efflux pumps in the cell membrane. This inhibition prevents the pump from removing chemotherapeutic drugs from the cell, leading to increased drug uptake and decreased drug resistance.
Meso-Tetraphenylchlorin can also be used as a fluorescent probe for studying cellular ATP binding cassette transporters.
