Trimethylene di(thiotosylate) is a cycloalkanone that is synthesized by the reaction of ethyl formate, peroxide, and hydrogen peroxide. The cycloalkanone is synthesized in the presence of an oxidizing agent, such as hydrogen peroxide. The cycloalkanone is then reacted with chloride to give the desired product. Trimethylene di(thiotosylate) has been used as a precursor for other compounds that are used in the synthesis of opiates and other drugs.
