3-(Triethoxysilyl)propyl Methacrylate is a surface treatment agent that is used to modify the surface of inorganic materials. It has been shown to be reactive with zirconium oxide, resulting in a surface of silicon-oxygen-silicon bonds. 3-(Triethoxysilyl)propyl Methacrylate has been used in the production of polyurethane foams and as an additive to paints and coatings. 3-(Triethoxysilyl)propyl Methacrylate is also used as a coupling agent for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which is a method for measuring the charge transport properties of materials. This chemical can be activated by using ethylene diamine or potassium dichromate with hydrogen bonding or hydrochloric acid. The activation energies for these reactions are listed below:
Ethylene diamine: Ea = 25 kJ/mol
Potassium dichromate: Ea =
