• Descrição: 2,4,6-Trimethoxyphenol is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have antioxidant effects in vitro and in vivo. It is also able to increase insulin sensitivity and lower blood pressure in diabetic patients. 2,4,6-Trimethoxyphenol is an inhibitor of the enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), which degrades catecholamines such as dopamine and norepinephrine. It has been shown to inhibit the oxidation of these molecules by reacting with hydrogen peroxide to produce H2O2. The demethylation of 2,4,6-trimethoxyphenol produces 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl alcohol (3MBA), which can be used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type II.
