2,2',2'',2'''-(1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-Tetrayl)Tetraacetamide (DOTA) is a chemical that binds to the surface of cells and can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases. DOTA has been shown to bind to proteases found on the surface of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. It also has a hydrogen bond with water molecules at acidic pH levels and an amide group that interacts with carbonyl groups. The intramolecular hydrogen bonds formed by DOTA are stabilized by its hydrophobic properties and neutralized by its cationic charge.
