Scutellarein tetramethyl ether is a natural product with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. It is a polymerase chain inhibitor, specifically targeting the COX-2 enzyme, which has been implicated in inflammation and pain. Scutellarein tetramethyl ether exhibits apoptosis pathway inhibition, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome. This compound also targets Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which is involved in the inflammatory response to bacterial infection. Scutellarein tetramethyl ether has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vitro.
