Trimethylpropylammonium Bromide (TMPB) is an aliphatic hydrocarbon with a chlorine atom at the end. It has been shown to be used as a catalyst in the production of hydrogen gas from water and hydrogen fluoride. TMPB has also been demonstrated to be an efficient energy source for rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged by adding water. In addition, TMPB is able to efficiently transport gases that are heavier than air and is used in wastewater treatment.
