Descrição:2-(2,4,5-Trifluorophenyl)ethanol is a chemical compound that is used as a reducing agent in many organic chemistry reactions. It reacts with aldehydes and ketones to form alcohols. 2-(2,4,5-Trifluorophenyl)ethanol also catalyzes the reduction of carboxylic acids to their corresponding alcohols and esters. This chemical has been used as an oxidant in asymmetric synthesis. The yields of this reaction are usually high and the reaction can be carried out under mild conditions because it does not require harsh reagents or high temperatures. 2-(2,4,5-Trifluorophenyl)ethanol is also used as a deprotecting agent for dialkyl ethers by acidifying them with hydrochloric acid.
