Tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) orthoformate is a lithium-containing compound that is used as a solvent and as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It is also used to prepare organolithium compounds for use in organic synthesis. Tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) orthoformate can be used as a reactive diluent or as an electron transfer agent because it allows the transport of electrons from one side of a reaction to the other.
