It is used in the treatment of dyslipidemia and to inhibit the growth of bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication.
