1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)pent-4-en-2-ol is a fluorinated alcohol that has been shown to have transcriptional regulatory activity. It binds to the glucocorticoid receptor and competes with dexamethasone for binding. 1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)pent-4-en-2-ol also possesses hydrogen bond donating properties and can form copolymers with other polymers. This chemical species has been used in structural biology studies to study the interactions between proteins and DNA.
